Questions About Membership

 Welcome to Harmony Grove UMC!

The doors of the church are open every Sunday for those who would like to join.  We warmly welcome you into the family of God at Harmony Grove UMC.  There are three ways to be received into the membership.  I have provided answers to some of the questions you may have.  If you still have questions, please contact me or another one of our ministers.  If you prefer to coordinate your join date you may contact me Rev. Deborah Carlton at 770-921-7747 or email revcarlton@att.net

Can I transfer my membership from another church?

If you currently hold membership at another church, Harmony Grove UMC will request that your membership be Transferred to this church.  TheUnitedMethodistChurch honors baptisms from all denominations so new members will not be baptized again.  At the time of joining you will be asked the following question:  Will you be loyal to theUnitedMethodist Church and uphold it by your prayers, your presence, your gifts, your service and your witness for Jesus Christ?

What if I have never  been a member of another church?

If you have never previously held membership in the church, but have been baptized, you will be joining on Confession of Faith.  At the time of joining, you will be asked the following questions:  Do you here in the presence of God and of this congregation renew the solemn promise and vow that you made or that was made in your name at your baptism?  Do you confess Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior and pledge your allegiance to his kingdom?  Do you receive and profess the Christian faith as contained in the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments?  Do you promise according to the grace given to you to live a Christian life and always remain a faithful member of Christ's holy Church?

What if I have never been Baptised?

If you have never previously held membership in the church and have not been baptized, you will be Baptized as part of the worship service and then join on Confession of Faith.  In order to prepare for the baptismal service contact Rev. Deborah Carlton at 770-921-7747 or email revcarlton@att.net.
